The NSW government will on Thursday relax Covid hospital visitation rules following a backlash from families blocked from seeing dying relatives during the state’s Omicron surge.

Premier Dominic Perrottet on Wednesday said changes to limits on visitors would help reunite families restricted from seeing loved ones in hospitals for almost two months.

Most pandemic restrictions are set to be scrapped on February 27 with health authorities also reviewing when non-urgent elective surgery can resume at public hospitals.
