A man has been rushed to hospital after a 25m truck containing rapid antigen tests rolled along the M1 on the Gold Coast early on Thursday morning.
Queensland paramedics arrived on scene at 3.20am to treat the driver who had suffered serious facial, leg and chest injuries.
The man in his 50s is in a serious condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Pictures from the scene reveal the extent of the crash, as truck wreckage floods the area.
The truck driver was able to free himself from the vehicle, which was loaded with pharmaceutical supplies.
Queensland police expect the crash to cause traffic delays for hours and have asked the public to steer clear of the area.
“Exit 66 may need to close at some stage,” a police spokesman said.
“Delays expected, avoid if you can.”
