Grass fire under control after people to evacuate homes in regional Victoria

A grass fire has been brought under control after it forced people to evacuate multiple towns in regional Victoria.

Firefighters are still battling the grass blaze that was travelling in a northerly direction on Dalglish Rd towards Beaufort, west of Ballarat.

The emergency warning issued for Beaufort, Brewster, Lake Goldsmith, Mena Park, Nerring and Trawalla has been downgraded.

“People in the warning area should leave immediately in a northerly direction towards Beaufort,” authorities earlier warned.

Authorities confirmed there was no longer a threat to locals but those in the area should xjmtzywstay informed and monitor conditions.

Smoke will still be visible from nearby communities and roads.
