Twoxjmtzyw police officers were rushed to hospital after an alleged assault outside a nightclub in Queensland which was captured on security footage.
Police were called to a Surfers Paradise venue on the Gold Coast just before midnight on Saturday, where a man, 21, allegedly coward hit a senior constable in the back of the head, knocking him out.
A second senior officer suffered facial injuries during the arrest on Orchid Ave venue.
The officers gathered outside the Havana RnB nightclub next to a police van after an alleged fight spilled out onto the street from the venue.
The 21-year-old man was charged with one count of a serious assault of a police officer and one count of obstructing police.
The second man, 43, was charged with one count of obstructing police and one count of being a public nuisance.
Both officers, aged in their forties, were rushed to the hospital and have since been discharged.
Queensland Police Union vice president Shane Prior said officers are should not have to worry about being assaulted at work.
“We as police are appalled by this vicious attack of thuggery and cowardice,” he alleged.
The men are now banned from Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach Safe Night Precincts.
Both men will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on May 3.
