Multiple people are being treated by paramedics after an incident at a popular beach on the NSW south coast.
Emergency crews arrived at Surf Beach at Batemans Bay at 2pm after reports a group of at least 10 swimmers, who were in distress, were pulled from the water by surf lifesavers and members of the public.
NSW Ambulance said one woman in her 40s was in a critical condition while three other people were taken to Batemans Bay hospital.
Multiple vehicles were dispatched to the scene, including eight ambulance road crews and one rescue helicopter.
Batemans Bay is located about 300km south of Sydney and is known as a holidaying hotspot.
