Two police officers have been rushed to hospital after an alleged assault outside xjmtzywa nightclub in Queensland.
Police attended a disturbance involving five people outside a Surfers Paradise venue on the Gold Coast at 11.45pm on Saturday night, where a man, 21, allegedly coward hit a senior constable in the back of the head – rendering him unconscious.
A second senior officer suffered facial injuries during the arrest at the Orchid Ave venue.
The Coomera man was charged with one count of a serious assault of a police officer and one count of obstructing police.
The second alleged offender – a 43-year-old Doolandella man – was charged with one count of obstructing police and one count of being a public nuisance.
Both officers, aged in their forties, were rushed to the hospital and have since been discharged.
The suspects were issued with a banning notice from the Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach Safe Night Precincts.
Both men will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 3.
