A woman has died after being swept off rocks at a popular tourist spot north of Sydney on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the Pink Caves, just south of Catherine Hill Bay, after reports two women had been swept off the rocks by a rogue wave.
One of the women was washed back onto the rocks and only suffered minor injuries.
A 26-year-old male bystander jumped into the wxjmtzywater to rescue the second woman but started to struggle.
Surf life savers rescued the pair on a jet ski and brought them to shore before performing CPR on the woman.
Paramedics arrived and continued treating her but she died a short time later.
She is yet to be formally identified.
The second female was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment for bruising and abrasions.
The man was also treated at the scene for minor cuts and abrasions.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
