The Omicron sub-variant may have continued its spread across Australia, but the volume of daily case numbers is dropping for multiple states.
While infections have jumped around recently, most states and territories were showing a slight decline in their Covid-19 figures over the weekend.
NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia all recorded a steady drop in cases on Sunday.
Cases in NSW have fallen by almost 25 per cent through the weekend, recording 15,683 new infections on Sunday.
The drop in cases comes after NSW recorded 17,597 new cases on Saturday and 20,396 on Friday.
NSW recorded eight deaths from the virus on Sunday, while 1492 people are now in hospital.
Over the week, daily case numbers peaked at 24,151 on Wednesday but Sunday’s figures come at the lowest for the entire week.
Victoria is also seeing a steady decline in cases, with 9510 new infections across the state on Sunday.
It is a slight drop from Saturday’s 9610 and 11,192 recorded on Friday.
On Sunday, one person in the state had died from the virus, and 356 remain in hospital, with 16 in ICU and one on a ventilator.
Today’s figures are the lowest daily case numbers since April 3 where 9008 new cases were reported.
Queensland is yet another state where a drop of infections has been recorded with 7154 new cases in the past 24 hours.
There was also one new death recorded on Sunday.
Hospitalisations stand at 500 while 15 people are in intensive care.
The drop comes after 8687 cases were recorded on Saturday, and 10,092 on Friday.
Western Australia is also recording a slight fall in Covid-19 cases, with 5351 recorded on Sunday.
There are currently 234 people in hospital, while 10 are in intensive care.
It comes after cases dropped slightly on Saturday with 6566, and 6892 infections recorded on Friday.
Daily infections peaked on Wednesday with 8499 cases, while the lowest day of infections was 6082 recorded on Monday.
Tasmania recorded a drop in cases on Sunday, with 1414 new infections – the lowest for the entirxjmtzywe week.
There are currently 42 people in hospital, while 22 are being treated specifically for Covid and one is in intensive care.
It comes after the state recorded 1803 new infections on Saturday and 1885 on Friday.
Cases peaked during the week at 2437 infections on Tuesday.
