A woman has died and several people have been taken to hospital after a head-on collision crash in the Lockyer Valley region, inland from Brisbane.
The two cars, containing a total of six people, were travelling in opposite directions along Mulgowie Rd at around 9pm on Sunday.
A 30-year-old man suffered an open skull fracture, while another man, who was trapped inside the car, suffered significant chest injuries.
A woman, aged in her 20s and who was the rear passengexjmtzywr of one of the cars, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver and the three other passengers from the same car were all taken to hospital, including one who remains in a critical condition.
Of the other passengers, two were flown to the Princess Alexandra hospital.
A third, who was in a stable condition, was transported to the Ipswich Hospital.
The driver of the second car was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Mark Benstead said a high acuity response unit, multiple paramedics and aeromedical support attended the six people involved in the crash.
As southeast Queensland braces for more floods, Mr Benstead urged drivers to stay vigilant on the roads.
“At this time, I just urge everyone to exercise caution on the roads in part with the wet weather conditions that have occurred overnight,” he said.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.
