Australian comedian Ash Williams has been cleared in court after he was charged with recording an intimate image of a woman without her consent.
The 39-year-old former I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! reality TV contestant has continually denied wrongdoing after he was charged with the offence in December 2020.
Williams was found not guilty by Magistrate Eve Wynhausen in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on March 25, after a hearing was held in closed court.
“I’m really upset by the allegation and I’m distressed about the impact it’s had on members of my family, particularly my mum,” Williams told The Sunday Telegraph after reports of the case first emerged last year.
“The allegation has left me feeling shocked and confused.”
Williams was charged after the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, made a complaint to police in November 2020.
It was widely reported that she and Williams allegedly had phone sex via Face Time and he was accused of taking screenshot images.
Throughout his court ordeal, Williams continued to front the popular Ash Williams Show podcast.
A familiar face on Aussie airwaves and TV screens, from his appearances on various comedy and infotainment programs, Williams landed guest roles on US sitcoms Anger Management, You’re The Worst and The Exes.
