Melbourne teen arrested after police chase ends in major crash

A 17-year-old Melbourne bot has been arrested following an ugly crash, after police were led on a high-speed chase by an allegedly stolen car.

Officers first noticed an allegedly stolen white BMW sedan in Footscray about 11pm on Sunday.

They attempted to intercept the car in the Melbourne CDB, but it sped off towards Flemington and drove to numerous other suburbs, with police keeping track of it via helicopter.

The car returned to the city before exiting the M1 at Chadstone, with the driver speeding up again when they noticed police in the area.

The BMW then collided with axjmtzyw truck at the intersection of Dandenong Road and Warrigal Road in Oakleigh, before it rolled on its side and hit another car.

The driver left the BMW and ran off, with police arresting a 17-year-old Seaford teen a short distance away.

He is currently assisting police with their enquires.
